Sinkholes, the Chimar reservoir, Mount Sdom and a Roman fort – self-drive with a guide and two-way radios

The self-drive route – Sinkholes, Mount Sdom, Nachal Zohar and the Roman fort: a route offering a unique desert off-road experience above the Dead Sea. It starts from the village of Neve Zohar, descends into Nachal Zohar and passes Gav Zohar (a water reservoir). We continue along the shoreline strip leading to the reservoir outlet, where we view sinkholes. From there we cross the dam over the Chimar reservoir toward Nachal Zohar, which leads us to the Roman fort – where we stop for photos and explanations before returning to the starting point.
