Bedouin communities, ancient water cisterns and a breathtaking view from Mount Azazel
A powerful two-hour desert experience that reveals the secrets of the desert and the local way of life.
During the tour we pass among the Bedouin communities of the Jahalin tribe and learn about their unique way of life. We discover the ancient water cisterns that collect the floodwaters, and climb to “Mount Azazel” – a breathtaking viewpoint revealing the Dead Sea rift, Jericho, the Hyrcania Valley and Jerusalem. At the summit we hear the fascinating story of the place, from which the scapegoat (“la’Azazel”) was sent on Yom Kippur in the days of the Temple.
Route upgrade: the tour can be extended to 3 hours and combined with a visit to the lookout over the impressive Mar Saba Monastery.
